“When we study the object-possessor (the subject or the do-er), we study three things: persons, the concepts of what the self is; consciousness, the nature of the mind; and terms, the way the labels we place on an object also “possess” that object in some way…  With naming, something is added that is beyond the actual existence of the object, so in that way the term “possesses” the object.”

P.19, Relative Truth, Ultimate Truth, Geshe Tashi Tsering

It is too early to answer these questions definitively, we haven’t really started the material yet, but have a wonder about the following.  Is it possible that an object is in some way taken over or possessed by the subject?  Can this be true for any object, mental or physical, such as a fact?  Does this always happen or is this something we can avoid?  Where does that leave “objectivity”?

Speaking from experience, share with us how the name or label you have given something has added meaning beyond the actual existence of the object, taking it over or possessing it in some way.
