“We may see the majority of others as obstacles to our wellbeing and survival, competitors for a slice of the pie that is life. This is absolutely not true. They are vital to our well-being and survival and are the source of all our happiness.”

Geshe Tashi Tsering, The Awakening Mind, p.40

Why do you think Geshe Tashi says it is not true that others are competitors for a slice of the pie that is life?  Isn’t this the dominant world view, aren’t these the facts?  If instead we think of others as being vital to our well-being and the source of our happiness, won’t we get taken advantage of?  Won’t we lose out?  Will we be able to get by?
