“Most Buddhists agree that an “action” or karma is really the intention that accompanies an activity of body, speech or mind.  Since intention is a mental factor, a type of consciousness, it can be said that the mind is the principal creator of all environments and beings.  In the Collection of Related Teachings, the Buddha says:

The world is led by mind

      And drawn by mind.

      All phenomena are controlled

      By one phenomena, mind.”

Guy Newland, Appearance & Reality p.42

How are you able to make sense of this?  What do Lord Buddha’s words, on the role of intentions and the role of the mind in reality, mean for you and your practice?
